School Board
The Board’s function is to involve parents and parishioners in the making of policies that will guide the Principal and staff in the everyday running of the school.
The Board is also responsible for overseeing the annual budget and planning for the provision of necessary and suitable facilities. It carries out these functions through consultation with the P&F Association and the parents in general. It is the Board and its policies that provide continuity despite any changes in Principal or staff. Members of the Board go through pre-service and in-service training to assist them in collaborative decision-making and to develop their understanding of Gospel values which form the basis of the policies they develop. Each member has a term of two years, which may be repeated once only if re-elected. Members of the Board do not represent the groups, from which they are drawn, in the same sense as a Member of Parliament, nor are they involved in solving problems about the day-to-day running of the School. This is the Principal’s role and all such queries should be directed to him/her. Board members are individuals with a special responsibility as part of a team to develop and maintain the overall character and direction of the School through policy making. |
